A\u00f0alsteinn Ing\u00f3lfsson (b. 1948) studied art history in the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy. He has also taught at the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts, Iceland University of the Arts, and the University of Iceland. He has worked as an art critic and cultural writer for V\u00edsir, DV, Fr\u00e9ttabla\u00f0i\u00f0, and R\u00daV.
A\u00f0alsteinn has held positions at Reykjav\u00edk Art Museum, the National Gallery of Iceland, and the Sigurj\u00f3n \u00d3lafsson Museum, and was likewise the first director of the Museum of Design and Applied Art. He has curated over 100 exhibitions in Iceland, Sweden, and Canada.
He has written around 40 books on Icelandic and Faroese art. His most recent book was published recently and focuses on Gu\u00f0mundur El\u00edasson, a sculptor and contemporary of Ger\u00f0ur Helgad\u00f3ttir and H\u00f6r\u00f0ur \u00c1g\u00fastsson in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
H\u00f6r\u00f0ur is a retrospective exhibition of the works of H\u00f6r\u00f0ur \u00c1g\u00fastsson that opens at Ger\u00f0arsafn on February 4, 2026. The exhibition will focus on H\u00f6r\u00f0ur\u2019s abstract geometric works and how they relate to his design and artistic thinking. How his formal approach extends between art forms and from visual products to his conceptual world and writings about art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
