All are welcome to attend the exhibition opening of Corpus 20th August at 6 p.m. in Gerðarsafn.

Through fabric and film, pigment and performance, each work presented in Corpus asks us to reflect on the lived body not as a stable container, but as something deeply relational: Always moving between self and other, culture and nature, seen and unseen. The artists of Corpus engage with complex networks of gender, race, materiality, ecology, and technology.

Corpus presents work by Arvida Byström, Jeannette Ehlers, Salad Hilowle, Hertta Kiiski, Klāvs Liepiņš &Renāte Feizaka and Sunneva Ása Weisshappel. Working within materiality, fabrics, sculpture, and photography, the exhibition explores themes of the body and the human, and our ways of relating to our environments. Through their distinct practices, the artists question with intrigue the ways in which we relate to our own body, within space, in relation to other beings, and the body’s place in a hierarchical evolutionary structure.
