Gerðarsafn is a progressive museum with an emphasis on modern and contemporary art, located in the heart of Kópavogur. Gerðarsafn offers temporary exhibitions with works by Icelandic and international contemporary artists as well as displaying the museum collection. The exhibition program echoes the museum‘s status as the only Icelandic museum built in honor of a female artist, Gerður Helgadóttir (1928-1975).

Gerðarsafn is open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The museum is located in Hamraborg 4. 

The restaurant Krónikan is on the first floor of the museum is open everyday 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday to Wednesday and to 9 p.m. on Thursday to Saturday.

Students and Seniors (67+) 600 kr.

Free admission for children, disabled and members of SÍM, ICOM, FÍMK and FÍSOS.

Annual Pass:

Adults: 2800 kr.
