Winter Solstice and Advent are the subject of this workshop. We create winter solstice decorations that will be worked in relation to the four kingdoms of nature: the stone kingdom, the plant kingdom, the animal kingdom and the human kingdom. We use branches, steel wire, woolen tape, stones (or shells), pine cones, and other treasures to create winter chaos. During Advent, there is an opportunity to deepen our relationship with the environment we live in by paying attention to the strength and beauty that resides in the four realms of nature.
The first week of Advent is dedicated to the stone kingdom, the material pillars of our existence. The second week reminds us of the plant kingdom that nourishes and shelters us. The third week is dedicated to the animal kingdom, its beauty and life, and the fourth week is dedicated to humans and our existence in the world. Family sessions on Saturdays are sponsored by the Arts and Culture Council of Kópavogsbær. Admission is free and everyone is welcome while space allows.
