The works Arrival (2023) by Kleoniki Stanich and Sorgarhyrna (2025) by Gunnar Jónsson are presented in Loop from 29.04–14.06.2026.
In Arrival, we follow a young woman is experiencing the confinement within the domestic environment and travels to an archipelago to escape her stagnant state. Kleoniki’s (1994) research and work explore the ways in which women occupy the public sphere, both in real life and on screen.
Sorgarhyrna is a dialogue between mood and landscape in which furrowed brows merge with mountain ridges. That simple image reflects how the solar cycle influences the residents of Ísafjörður, emotionally and physically, during the winter time when the light is limited for a long period of time by high mountain tops. Gunnar’s (1988) work often revolves around place and proximity to the sea, in ways that are both melancholic and poetic. Both works are site-specific and in them, bodies fuse with landscape.
Loop is a screening series where two video works are shown together and played in a continuous loop. Every six weeks, the rhythm shifts and new works take over.
