All are welcome to a curator talk with Brynja Sveinsdóttir and Hallgerður Hallgrímsdóttir curators of exhibition Barbara Wednesday 6th August at 12:15.
Barbara Árnason (1911-1975) emerged from one artistic environment and took root in another. Born in Hampshire in southern England, she grew up in a society shaped by rapid modernization as well as a rich cultural heritage where decorative arts, visual art, and design were an integral part of everyday life. She would go on to develop a unique artistic approach that wove together her background and the influences she encountered in Iceland. Barbra was a highly versatile artist who consistently approached new media with curiosity and skill but the core remained focused on the everyday, the intimate, and the delicate.
Entrance ticket to the museum is valid, free for yearly members.
