All are welcome to attend a talk about the stained glass windows by Gerður Helgadóttir in Kópavogskirkja, with Sigurður Arnarson priest and Cecilie Gaihede curator of Transformation in Gerðarsafn Sunday 22nd September at 12 p.m. Please note the talk will be in Icelandic.
In the spring of 1962 it was decided that Gerður Helgadóttir would design the windows and, with Gerður’s persistence and the good support of the town authorities and residents of Kópavogur, they were able to get them into the building for the dedication of the church that winter. The windows were made by Gerður in collaboration with the famous Oidtman brothers window factory in Germany.
