All are welcome to an artist talk with Jeannette Ehlers and Hertta Kiiski, artists of Corpus, Thursday at 5 p.m. in Gerðarsafn. The talks will be in English. Please note that this is the only time these artists will give talks during the exhibition period.
Jeannette Ehlers (b.1973) is a Danish-Trinidadian
artist whose multimedia works–spanning video, performance, and installation–engage with the legacies of colonialism and the African diaspora. Her practice foregrounds the Black body as a site of resistance, ritual, and transformation. Ehlers interrogate show history is inscribed on bodies and landscapes, offering powerful counter-narratives to dominant cultural memory.
Hertta Kiiski (b.1973) is a Finnish artist working across photography, video, installation, and textile. Her work challenges human-centred narratives by emphasizing emotional and ecological interconnectedness with the non-human world. Kiiski’s poetic approach centres empathy, softness, and slowness as modes of resistance and radical attention.
